Lightning Learner is looking for teachers interested in writing lessons in exchange for
an ownership percentage of the venture. If you believe that you
have enough experience in your field to understand the common misconceptions that students
encounter, and can explain away these misconceptions, and introduce concepts using text,
images, audio and video, then we'd like to discuss the possibility of a mutually beneficial
relationship.
We can provide support for the creation of the media you feel you need to explain your
conceptualizations. What we need from teachers is a clear, concise, organized, orderly
progression of small-step concepts, which lead up to the greater understanding of a lesson
in its entirety. We provide the tools you need to structure this framework for a lesson.
You start with the sequence of ideas you wish to convey, along with your list of underlying
premises you are assuming the student already knows (This list is CRITICAL to the Lightning
Learner process). Once you assemble your ideas in the proper sequence, we all work
together to flesh-in the details.
To convey the concept in each small-step, a minimum of 3 different explanations
should be created by you, taking a different approach each time. Based upon
consensus, as necessary we add voice overlays to
the written text, still images/diagrams, and/or Video presentations.
Once the basic lesson is scripted, you input the questions that you would ask a student
to gauge the level of understanding. The Lightning Learner program will present these
concepts in the appropriate order, soliciting feedback from the students, moving
forward or backward in the lesson as necessary to optimize
the possibility of the student's
making the necessary connections to learn the new information.
You are essentially writing a portion of an independent study online textbook, which
will be used by schools
the world over indefinitely into the future --if your lesson is good enough to withstand
the test of time. This is why a percentage of the venture makes sense as a payment method.
Your percentage acts like a royalty which you will continue to receive for the effort you
undertook. However, if you have enough confidence in your ability to teach, but have no
interest in being a partner in the Lightning Learner organization, then we are still
interested
in discussing the possibility of working with you on a "fee per lesson created" basis. This
allows you to essentially receive pay similar to extra-curricular tutoring, but instead of
tutoring one-on-one, you're sharing your understanding with many.
