Lightning Learner is a human/computer based teaching system that uses teachers and computers
combined to teach children at their own speed. Grades are not assigned based upon percentage
of comprehension of a lesson, because EACH CHILD LEARNS EACH LESSON IN ITS ENTIRETY.
There is no unlearned gap which comes back to haunt or discourage a student later on. A student
advances to the next lesson only when the previous one is learned. If there is a conceptual block, a
teacher is automatically notified to work one-on-one with a student.
"At Risk"
students can start out WHERE THEY ARE, and the system finds gaps and fills them in.
Self-esteem gained from learning and accomplishing stimulates the desire to
learn more. Lightning Learner provides this encouragement so that students see
themselves succeeding rather than falling behind in a learning situation less
tailored to fit their needs.
Quicker students are not held back because a teacher needs to teach at a low-middle level to
try and include everyone. All students advance at their own natural learning speed.
